‘Fed up’ and ‘disillusioned’ Rangers fans make their feelings known in Genk collapse
Rangers began their Europa League campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Genk at Ibrox.
Mohamed Diomande’s first-half red card massively impacted Rangers, with Jack Butland saving a penalty from Oh Hyeung-gyu shortly after.
The former Celtic striker would eventually score at Ibrox, with Genk dominating the second half and creating many more chances.
The pressure is once again on Russell Martin, with fans furious at the Bears’ dismal start to the season.

Rangers’ loss to Genk plunges Ibrox into further chaos
Once again, boos rang out at the full-time whistle, with supporters directing chants towards Martin, demanding that he be sacked.
Speaking on TNT Sports after the match, former Gers full-back Alan Hutton said: “You heard the supporters venting out their feelings, they’re not happy with the situation at this moment in time.
“When it was 11v11, I still thought Rangers were giving away too many opportunities, and you can’t do that against decent sides in European competitions, you’ll be punished.
Former Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield added: “It’s a crowd that looks fed up, dissatisfied, disillusioned, and I think the performance really replicated that.”
Rangers fans can feel hard done by a couple of refereeing decisions all within the space of 10 minutes, but ultimately the red card was correct, with Diomande continuing his bad form in the worst fashion.

Regardless of the controversial moments, Rangers didn’t show enough when it was 11v11.
Genk could have easily scored three in the first 30 minutes, with the Gers defence once again showing signs of fragility.
As the game petered out in the second half, Ibrox became emptier by the minute, and the fans that did stay around were not best pleased with yet another defeat under Martin.
Ibrox felt much different than usual, with seats empty, fans not on board, and no spark, magic, or life being shown by the team throughout the match.

Ibrox left with thousands of empty seats as fans protest the board
It’s not a shock that many Rangers fans decided to boycott the Genk match, as the Light Blues have four matches from a possible 14 this season.
Andrew Cavenagh was in attendance once more, and with over 12,000 seats left empty, he must be wondering how long he can persist with Martin.
Cavenagh will continue to lose money the longer Martin stays, and at this point, he must swallow his pride.
Rangers fans would be much happier if he could admit his mistake and sack Martin instantly, yet the chairman refuses to do so.
Fans are already starting to direct their anger towards Cavenagh, and if Martin remains at this club for another few weeks, supporters will be unanimous in wanting him gone too.
