Russell Martin likely ‘fuming’ with what Nico Raskin did after Rangers return at Ibrox
Rangers host Genk at Ibrox on Thursday in what could be Russell Martin’s final game as Gers boss.
Martin’s days as Rangers boss are numbered, but a win against Hibernian in the Premier Sports Cup has kept him in the hot seat for another game.
Another loss on 25 September would likely see Martin get sacked by the Rangers hierarchy.
Nico Raskin and Martin’s feud has been well-documented, and the situation has only backfired on Martin as fans now want him gone.
Martin played Raskin in the 2-0 win against Hibernian, with the Belgian scoring, as more developments on their relationship have been revealed.

Barry Bannan knows Russell Martin and says he will be fuming at Nico Raskin scoring
Barry Bannan played with Martin for Scotland and claims he knows the Rangers boss quite well.
The Sheffield Wednesday captain has offered insight into what Martin was most likely thinking when Raskin scored the opening goal against Hibs.
“These kinds of episodes go on in football, the player gets a chance and ends up scoring, and the manager’s probably fuming,” he joked on Open Goal.
- Raskin has scored in his last two games for club and country
- He played a starring role in his 70-minute appearance for Belgium’s 6-0 win against Kazakhstan
- Raskin was left out of the starting line-up for Rangers’ 6-0 battering at the hands of Club Brugge
“He’s quite open [Russell], but if something’s too big that he can’t come out and speak, then it must be quite bad,” Bannan explained.
Even if Martin swallows his pride and plays his best player in Raskin consistently, would it be too late?
Can Russell Martin still save his Rangers job?
To many Rangers fans’ surprise, Martin is still the manager, which means he can still turn results around, or at least go out fighting.

Sturm Graz (A) | Europa League |
Although unlikely, Martin has the opportunity of a lifetime to get what would be a pivotal result against Genk in the Europa League.
He explained to the media recently why he his staff went away for some team bonding, and the extent to which that will help will show in the performance on Thursday.
Raskin will once again be pivotal to any positive result at Ibrox.
