Djeidi Gassama corrects Sky Sports error in new footage released by Rangers
Djeidi Gassama has been one of Rangers’ better players in what has so far been a hugely disappointing campaign.
Gassama joined Rangers from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer, and has shone on the left wing in an otherwise dismal attacking side.
Under-pressure manager Russell Martin had Gassama to thank for the few wins he has produced at Rangers, but has also played the 22-year-old out of position at times.
Kevin Thelwell signed a lot of players for Rangers in the summer, and Gassama has been the best of them all so far.

Djeidi Gassama clears up name pronunciation error
There has been plenty of confusion over how to pronounce Gassama’s surname, and Rangers’ draw with Celtic on Sky Sports saw the commentators refer to him as ‘Gassam’.
Rangers’ win over Hibernian also saw the commentators on Premier Sports refer to him in this way, and fans were baffled.
- Gassama has scored four times in 12 games for Rangers, and has provided one assist.
- All four goals came early on in the Champions League qualifying rounds, and he is yet to score in the Scottish Premiership.
- The winger has hit the post and crossbar with several long-range efforts, while his speed and trickery have proved very useful.
Gassama has now proven that the commentators were wrong and the fans were right, as he has indirectly clarified how to pronounce his name.
Speaking in a video on Rangers TV, the winger mentioned his own surname, and confirmed that it is in fact pronounced ‘Gassama’.
This comes after Gassama specifically requested that Rangers did not post about his birthday on social media, in a surprise development.
Russell Martin needs to keep Djeidi Gassama on the left
Gassama’s performances on the left wing have been vastly different to those on the right, with Martin shoehorning Mikey Moore in on the left in recent weeks.
The former Sheffield Wednesday star is clearly suited to the left, where he can cut inside and shoot on his right foot, rather than hugging the touchline on the right.
With Moore failing to impress for Rangers so far, it is clear that Gassama should be in his position on the left, and Oliver Antman could come in as an option on the right.
Martin needs to get the best out of Gassama as he looks to inject more goals into the Rangers front line, but the winger needs to be in his best position to do so.
