Barry Ferguson tells Russell Martin he has best player in Scotland at Rangers
Russell Martin must know it’s unacceptable for Rangers to be 11th in the William Hill Premiership.
The Scottish manager has one of the best squads in the league, yet they’ve struggled to perform at their best, with four wins in 13 matches this season.
Protests were held against Martin at Ibrox ahead of the Hibernian fixture on 20 September, as fans have had enough of him at the Light Blues.
Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell are also under pressure, but the bulk of the responsibility should lie on the former Southampton boss for the performances on the pitch.

Nicolas Raskin best player in Scotland as issues with Russell Martin resolved at Rangers
Nicolas Raskin was the best player in the William Hill Premiership towards the end of last season, Barry Ferguson says.
The Gers’ former interim manager was highly impressed with the Belgium international as he took charge at Ibrox after Philippe Clement’s sacking.
With Martin finally starting the 24-year-old midfielder against Hibs after keeping him out of the squad for the Celtic and Hearts games, fans will hope for more positive results in the coming weeks.
Ferguson wrote in the Daily Record on 24 September: “I did think, over the last couple of months of the season, he was the best player in the country. He still has a bit of work to do and more improvements to make, and he will know that himself.
“But if he continues to want to learn, then Rangers have got a brilliant asset on their hands and that’s why I’m so happy that the situation with the manager appears to have been resolved.”

Russell Martin issue with Nicolas Raskin should be put to bed at Ibrox
Raskin must’ve done something extreme for Martin to punish him at the Gers, but one can only speculate.
The midfielder was a key player for the Light Blues last season, and it was surprising to see the Scottish manager not rely on him as much.
With the former Southampton boss wanting to play the Belgian national a bit further up the pitch, he hasn’t been able to perform to his highest standards.
- Raskin scored in the Gers’ 2-0 win over Hibs.
- The midfielder also scored his first goal for Belgium against Kazakhstan recently.
- Last season, the Belgian national made 48 appearances for the Light Blues.
Rangers fans feared Raskin would leave last summer, with teams from down south interested in him.
The ex-Standard Liege star has stayed at the Gers, and it’s now up to Martin to use him in his right position.
With the midfielder returning in a pivot position against Hibernian, the Scottish manager has a no-brainer decision for the upcoming matches.
