Rangers predicted XI vs Genk — Mikey Moore axed as rarely-seen teammate returns

Russell Martin will be determined to win as Rangers face Genk in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Gers ended their five-game winless run against Hibernian in the Premier Sports Cup on 20 September, with Nicolas Raskin and Bojan Miovski finding the back of the net.

Martin will be lucky to come away with a draw against Genk if Opta’s supercomputer prediction is anything to go by, with the Belgian outfit slight favourites.

The former Southampton boss shouldn’t look to make many changes, as Ibrox News predicts the Glaswegian outfit’s lineup for the game on 25 September.

Oliver Antman in for Mikey Moore, Connor Barron returns to Rangers starting lineup

Martin could possibly make two changes to the Gers’ starting lineup against Genk, with Mikey Moore potentially dropping to the bench.

Oliver Antman has lost his place in the team after getting off to a positive start at the Light Blues, but the Scottish manager may prefer the former Go Ahead Eagles forward on the right-wing at Ibrox from the get-go, with the Tottenham loanee not really catching the eyes of supporters.

In the middle of the park, Mohamed Diomade hasn’t been at his best in recent matches, and it would make sense to bring someone like Connor Barron in to ensure defensive solidity against the Belgian club.

The goalkeeping and defensive departments should remain the same, as consistency is undoubtedly necessary to build a winning team.

Russell Martin can’t afford slip up against Genk at Ibrox

The Ibrox faithful want to see Martin gone, with one fan suggesting that opinion around the Scottish manager won’t change even if he wins the Europa League this season.

As things stand, the Scottish manager is fighting for his job at the Gers, with fans holding demonstrations against him.

It’s clear that supporters want to see a change in the Glaswegian outfit’s dugout, making every game pivotal for the former Southampton boss from here on out.

Martin’s record at the Gers

Martin arguably needs a spectacular winning run at Rangers to guarantee his future in G51 after leading the team to their worst league start since 1978.

Genk haven’t been in the best of form themselves this season, winning just two of their opening eight league matches.

Thorsten Fink may also be fighting for his job at the Cegeka Arena, making the Belgian club’s visit to Ibrox an intriguing affair.
