Rangers fans to rage at SFA announcement for Livingston showdown
Rangers can’t seem to catch a break as Russell Martin looks to turn things around in the William Hill Premiership.
The Gers currently find themselves 11th in the league table after losing to Hearts at Ibrox on 13 September, with the Scottish manager under intense pressure in G51.
Martin ended a five-game winless run by beating Hibernian in the Premier Sports Cup final, with Nicolas Raskin and Bojan Miovski finding the back of the net.
Genk are set to visit Ibrox next in the Europa League on 25 September, before the Glaswegian outfit travel to Almondvale on 28 September for a crunch league game.

John Beaton appointed referee for Livingston vs Rangers
John Beaton isn’t the most well-liked official in G51 after some controversial decisions in the past.
Most recently, in a friendly against Middlesbrough at Ibrox between the Panathinaikos fixtures in the Champions League, the Scottish referee missed a clear handball from Luke Ayling in the box during the 2-2 draw.
Another example from last season involved Beaton awarding Hibernian a penalty in the 3-3 draw at Easter Road on 5 January as Ianis Hagi battled to get the ball from Josh Campbell.
With the officials now announced for the game against Livi, the Glaswegian outfit’s fans will be hoping that decisions don’t go against them on the day.

Russell Martin must win against Livingston after record
Martin can’t afford any slip-ups at Ibrox in the upcoming matches as he looks to get fans back onside at the Gers after a poor start to the season.
The Light Blues face the prospect of being bottom of the table before kick-off at Almondvale if Aberdeen manage to beat Dundee United with a convincing scoreline.
With the Scottish manager failing to find a win in any of his opening five league matches in charge, beating Livingston is pivotal, especially considering the Glaswegian outfit’s record against them.
Fixture vs Livingston | Venue | Result |
3 February 2024 | Home | 3-0 win |
12 November 2023 | Away | 2-0 win |
27 September 2023 | Home | 4-0 win |
Hearts broke their 11-year winless run against Rangers, as Derek McInnes got the better of Martin at Ibrox.
Livi haven’t beaten the Gers in the last 21 meetings between the two teams, with the West Lothian outfit managing just two draws during that period.
The last time Livingston beat the Light Blues was in September 2018, and the Scottish manager won’t want to be the one to change that.
