Rangers fan bites back at Jim White question following Russell Martin rant

Jim White angered Rangers fans with comments he made on 16 September.

Rangers fans have been furious with Russell Martin as the Ibrox club has suffered its worst start to a domestic season in 47 years.

Following Martin’s post-match press conference against Hearts, David Edgar of the Heart & Hand podcast called out White after comments he made dismissing fan-media groups.

White has since invited Edgar on talkSPORT to expand on why fan media should be taken seriously.

JIm White skeptical of the objectivity of ‘fan media’ representatives

Rangers’ 2-0 defeat to Hearts could have been the end for Martin at Rangers, with fans calling for him to be sacked instantly.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 23 September, White asked Edgar about how hard it was to maintain objectivity whilst he is in attendance.

He said: “You have to remember, we admit we’re objective and we admit to an agenda, but I think all media has an agenda of some sort.

“The difference with fan media is that as fans, we will say that we want the best for Rangers, and they know that.”

Whilst fans will always have a strong agenda on matters at their club, they’re also more likely to ask managers burning questions due to their passion.

Edgar has publicly expressed his disapproval of Martin in the past, with the former Southampton manager seemingly on borrowed time at G51.

Russell Martin faces growing pressure as Rangers manager

What cannot be argued is the growing pressure that Martin faces in Govan.

Andrew Cavenagh has a tough decision on his hands, with supporters likely to turn their anger on him if Martin isn’t sacked in the coming weeks.

Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell have also been criticised for the work they have done at the club, yet Martin will be the first to go if results don’t improve immediately.

That win percentage is far below the standard that is expected of a Rangers manager, and should Rangers lose their Europa League opener to Genk on Thursday, there really would be no way back for Martin.
