Russell Martin chant revealed as Rangers fans protest outside Ibrox with new images

Rangers are set to face Hibernian in the Premier Sports Cup on Saturday afternoon, but the main focus is on manager Russell Martin.

The Union Bears organised protests against Martin and CEO Patrick Stewart after a dismal start to the season, and fans have gathered in their masses outside the main entrance to Ibrox to make their feelings known.

Rangers have had their worst start to a league season in 47 years, and Martin’s position should be untenable given the dire performances on display under his management.

Fans are desperate to see the manager dismissed, but the Rangers hierarchy have backed Martin, and fans are now heavily opposed to this stance.

Rangers fans protest against Russell Martin at Ibrox

Rangers fans have gathered at Ibrox, with a mixture of the Union Bears as well as significant numbers of the wider fanbase, and many have brought signs calling for Martin and Stewart’s exit.

As reported by Chris Jack via X, the Rangers fans displayed a huge banner with the words “Take aim at Stewart and Martin”, with hundreds of fans turning up over an hour before kick off to protest.

Martin’s Rangers record before the Hibernian clash

Those in attendance chanted “Russell Martin, get out of our club,” and “We hate you Martin,” as well as a more explicit chant directed at the manager.

Martin has failed to win a single league game, and chairman Andrew Cavenagh has flown in to attend the Hibernian match, and he would have seen the anger from the protesting fans for himself.

Hibernian defeat would surely spell end for Russell Martin

Martin’s position arguably should be beyond repair, with the Champions League humiliation against Club Brugge and the winless start to the league campaign already two sackable offences.

If Rangers lose against Hibs, they will lose perhaps their best chance of a trophy, and fans are clearly furious with his management.

Demand for Rangers away tickets has fallen under Martin’s management, and a cup exit on top would surely make his position untenable, with Cavenagh then facing a decision over what to do with the manager and Stewart.
