Patrick Stewart rules out Sean Dyche appointment in Rangers fan meeting
Rangers may not look at Sean Dyche to replace Russell Martin ahead of facing Hibernian in the Premier Sports Cup.
The Gers’ hierarchy have a massive decision on their hands as supporters in G51 want to see the Scottish manager leave after just 12 games in charge.
Martin’s future at Ibrox is uncertain after leading the Light Blues to their worst league start since 1978, failing to win any of the opening five matches.
Andrew Cavenagh may also be considering Patrick Stewart’s future after the shambles of the season at the Glaswegian outfit, but the chief executive officer is still an influential voice in the boardroom for now.

Rangers looking for progressive manager to replace Russell Martin
Stewart and the rest of the Gers’ hierarchy are looking to build a “possession-dominant” team under their manager, arguably ruling out Dyche’s arrival.
The Light Blues’ CEO has admitted that they have gone through a rigorous process to appoint a head coach under the new ownership at Ibrox.
It looks like the decision-makers at the Glaswegian outfit want a progressive manager to lead them into a brighter future, and the former Everton and Burnley manager has a reputation for being old-school in his approach to the game.
In the minutes published by the club’s Fan Advisory Board on 19 September, “[Stewart] explained that the process had been thorough in terms of references, interviews and data analysis. He said the club’s analysis showed that possession-dominant teams are typically more successful in Scotland and across similar leagues throughout Europe. This analysis had shaped the search and ultimately led to Martin’s appointment.”

Steven Gerrard obvious option to appoint at Ibrox
Cavenagh should get on the phone with Steven Gerrard if and when the Gers decide to sack Martin.
The Liverpool icon was heavily linked with a return to G51 after Barry Ferguson’s departure, but the Light Blues ended up deciding on the former Southampton boss.
In the Englishman’s previous stint at the Glaswegian outfit, he ended their 10-year wait for a league title, thwarting 10-in-a-row for Celtic in the process.

Rangers should do whatever they can to appoint Gerrard, and if that means letting go of the likes of Stewart and Kevin Thelwell, then so be it.
While supporters will argue that someone like Dyche can bring pragmatism back to the Gers, the style of play under the ex-Everton manager may not be the most attractive.
Hibernian could potentially be the last game Martin takes charge of in the Ibrox dugout, and even a win may not guarantee his survival, considering the vitriol in G51.
