Nicolas Raskin unbelievable on return, 4/10 a let-down – Rangers player ratings vs Hibernian

Rangers came away with an important 2-0 victory in their Premier Sports Cup quarter-final clash with Hibernian.

The game was disrupted by Rangers fans protesting against Russell Martin and Patrick Stewart at Ibrox, and thousands of empty seats also sent a clear message to the owners.

Rangers are winless in the league, but securing victory against Hibs has saved Martin’s job for now, and has sent the team through to the semi-finals of the competition.

Martin made several changes to his team, and these paid off, with one inclusion particularly impressing at Ibrox.

Nicolas Raskin impresses on Rangers return

Nicolas Raskin was absent from several matchday squads after a feud with Martin, and fans took the midfielder’s side.

Raskin was thrown straight back into the starting XI after missing the last few games, and he sent a clear message to Martin after an outstanding display.

The Belgium International opened the scoring with a powerful header from James Tavernier’s corner, with Martin relieved on the touchline, and also played a part in the second goal.

Raskin played an excellent pass to Mikey Moore, who helped set Bojan Miovski up for his first Rangers goal, and was imperious throughout the game.

Derek Cornelius struggles on first Rangers start

Derek Cornelius came in for the underperforming Nasser Djiga for his first start since his deadline day move, but it was not an easy game for him.

Martin Boyle had a goal disallowed for handball, and Cornelius did not get tight enough to the striker.

Boyle terrorised Cornelius with his physicality on several occasions, and it is clear that the centre-back will need time to adjust to Scottish football. However, he did manage to keep a clean sheet.
