Russell Martin risks turning entire Rangers squad against him with ‘bonkers’ decision
Rangers fans have completely turned against Russell Martin, and the playing squad may not be far off from doing the same.
The Rangers board have given their backing to Martin despite fan opposition to him, after a winless start to the season has landed the Gers in 10th place in the league.
Protests have been organised against Martin for Rangers’ clash with Hibernian, and a loss would surely spell the end of his time at Ibrox.
Martin made a bizarre move in bringing the Rangers squad to Loch Lomond after a defeat to Hearts, and he has now been criticised for this decision.

Tam McManus slams Russell Martin over Loch Lomond trip
Former Hibernian striker Tam McManus has now slammed Martin for his decision to take the Rangers squad swimming in Loch Lomond, and claimed that it could mean he loses the dressing room.
Writing in the Daily Record [18 September] , McManus hit out at Martin, and claimed that it could even make his situation at Ibrox worse.
“It’s like everything they are wanting, he’s doing the opposite,” McManus stated.

“I don’t know if it’s stubbornness or what, but that exercise earlier this week spoke of someone not reading the temperature of the room, or the water if you like.
It made no sense to me. I mean, if you head down to Loch Lomond and you’re going for a game of golf or something, then fine. But to drag them into the water? It’s bonkers material.
I’ve no idea what the squad would have thought of it and, if they didn’t like it, that’s just going to make it worse for Martin.”

Russell Martin has to beat Hibernian
The writing already appears to be on the wall for Martin, but if Rangers lose in the cup clash with Hibs, it would surely mean he is sacked.
The Premier Sports Cup may be Rangers’ best chance at a trophy this season, with the Scottish Premiership title perhaps a write-off, and it would truly be a disaster if the Gers are eliminated.
Even if Rangers win, Andrew Cavenagh may be tempted to sack Martin given the potential for there to be thousands of empty seats, and the former Southampton manager is running out of time.
