Rangers Fan Advisory Board make feelings over Russell Martin clear to club hierarchy
Rangers fans have collectively lost faith in Russell Martin, and are now demanding that he is removed as manager.
Fans at Ibrox booed Martin after Rangers lost to Hearts, and the Union Bears have organised a protest against him.
Martin is under huge pressure after a winless start to the Scottish Premiership campaign, and many now believe he should indeed be sacked.
The contempt from Rangers fans towards Martin is reaching toxic levels, but concern over him has now been formalised with the club, and there has been a significant meeting.

Rangers Fan Advisory Board hold meeting with club hierarchy
Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart are both being criticised for hiring Martin in the first place, and fans have called for the CEO to depart with the manager.
The Rangers Fan Advisory Board have now revealed that they held a meeting with several members of the club hierarchy, including Stewart, and made their feelings about the manager’s future clear.
“We had a full and frank discussion this afternoon, lasting more than two hours, with CEO Patrick Stewart, Sporting Director Kevin Thelwell and other club officials,” they posted in a statement.
Chairman | Andrew Cavenagh |
Vice-Chairman | Paraag Marathe |
CEO | Patrick Stewart |
Sporting director | Kevin Thelwell |
Technical director | Gretar Steinsson |
Manager | Russell Martin |
“We reiterated the fans’ collective strength of feeling on the performance of the manager, as well as other issues relating to the men’s first team that continue to cause great concern to the Rangers support.
“Nothing was left off the table. We appreciate the club dedicating the full agenda to football matters and answering questions raised.
“Other items, on wider club issues, will be addressed at a separate meeting in the near future. The club continues to back the manager – a stance we forcibly challenged.”
Rangers meeting will shed light on who is to blame
Stewart is now being hounded out, but it is impossible to say just yet how much influence he had over hiring Martin, and whether this was more than Thelwell or Gretar Steinsson.
The full minutes from this meeting between the club and the fan advisory board will show which members of the hierarchy are staunchly defending Martin, and which appear more ready to see him go.
This will allow accountability at the top level of the club, and if Stewart comes across badly in this meeting, it will only encourage the calls for him to depart.
Rangers will face Hibernian in the Premier Sports Cup next, and a loss would surely bring Martin’s time at the club to an end.
