‘He needs to…’ – Charlie Adam tells Russell Martin what has to happen immediately as Rangers pressure grows

Russell Martin is edging closer to being sacked as Rangers manager.

The Scot has had a disastrous start to his tenure as Gers boss and is still searching for his first Scottish Premiership win.

Martin is under severe pressure to save his job, with Saturday’s Premier Cup clash against Hibs, potentially his last game in charge.

Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers are backing Martin, but another poor result at the weekend could spell the end for the manager.

A win at Ibrox on Saturday is a must if the fans’ opinion on the manager are to be changed, with many disillusioned with what they’ve seen so far.

Charlie Adam urges Russell Martin to bring back Rangers outcast

Charlie Adam is the latest former Rangers player to weigh in on Martin’s position as manager.

Adam was on talkSPORT on Thursday morning and was asked his opinion on what is happening currently in Glasgow.

“It’s been a tough start to this season,” he said. “I thought it was a good appointment at the start of the season.

“For whatever reason, at the moment it doesn’t seem to be clicking. There’s obviously been problems within the group with the manager, and now the supporters are starting to turn quickly as well. It’s not a nice thing to see, but they have to get results.”

Adam also gave his thoughts on what Martin has to do to try to turn things around at Rangers, adding: “He needs to get Raskin back in the team and get an opportunity for him to be playing, then it’ll make Rangers better.”

Nicolas Raskin was left out of the squad against Hearts amid a reported feud with Martin, but Adam feels as though he needs to be back involved.

Nicolas Raskin must be reintegrated into the Rangers team

Adam is right when he called for Martin to get Raskin back into the team.

The Belgian midfielder was one of Rangers’ best players last campaign and can provide the spark needed for the current side.

Raskin’s ability to link play with others and his technical prowess on the ball are exactly what have been missing for Rangers.

Whatever the feud between Martin and Raskin is, the manager needs to realise it’s time to put it to bed and get his best players on the pitch.
