Russell Martin at point of no return at Rangers as Ruben Amorim point made
Russell Martin and Ruben Amorim may have no futures at Rangers and Manchester United, respectively.
The Scottish manager has led the Gers to their worst start in the league since 1978, and fans want the new owners to pull the trigger in G51.
Andrew Cavenagh is behind Martin as things stand, and the 39-year-old head coach is expected to be in the dugout for the Hibernian fixture in the Premier Sports Cup on 20 September.
Patrick Stewart’s future at Ibrox also seems untenable, with the Bears’ supporters planning protests against the manager and CEO.

Rangers weak after delaying Russell Martin sack
Martin’s sacking at the Gers is inevitable as the situation has reached a point of no return, David Edgard says.
Heart & Hand Podcast believe the Scottish manager is destined to leave Ibrox as it’s already too late for him.
With suggestions that the former Southampton boss has just “one or two games to save his job”, just like Amorim at Man United, the boardroom now appear weak as they delay getting a replacement.
Heart & Hand Podcast wrote on X on 17 September: “Martin, Amorim, Potter, anyone — as soon as you get to the ‘he has one or two games to save his job’ stage, it’s already too late. All boards are doing is delaying the inevitable. It just looks weak.”

Jose Mourinho no longer candidate for Ibrox role
Jose Mourinho has been linked with the Ibrox hotseat, but it looks like Benfica are set to appoint him.
The Portuguese manager recently left Fenerbahce, and the Gers may have missed out on a massive opportunity to get him to Scotland by sticking with Martin.
It’s clear that the Scottish manager is out of his depth at the Light Blues, and a loss to Hibernian will only make matters worse.
- Martin has won three of his 12 games in charge this season.
- Hearts ended their 11-year winless run at Ibrox on 13 September.
- The Light Blues have conceded 19 goals in the current campaign.
Rangers are already looking for replacements for Martin, but Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises need to make sure they make the right call.
With the ex-Saints boss failing at the Gers, the US consortium can’t afford to make a similar disaster with their next appointment.
Steven Gerrard should certainly be at the top of the Glaswegian outfit’s list if and when Martin gets the boot.
