Rangers fans caught in ‘poisonous’ moment immediately after cheering players at Ibrox
Rangers’ dismal start to the season continued following the 2-0 defeat to Hearts on Saturday.
The result somehow leaves Rangers 10th in the Scottish Premiership, having failed to win any of their first five league games.
Russell Martin continues to face calls to be sacked, as Rangers have made their worst start to a league season in 47 years.
Martin’s relationship with the fans has reached a breaking point, and Scott McDermott shared something he noticed from the stands during the Hearts match.

Russell Martin has lost complete support from the fans
Speaking on the Daily Record Hotline Live on 16 September, journalist McDermott believes that Russell Martin might be the most unpopular manager Rangers have ever had.
He said: “Against Hearts, I don’t think I ever heard that level of poisonous abuse towards any Rangers manager in my lifetime.
“This is as vociferous as I can remember it towards one guy.
“Players came on the pitch after half-time and they were cheered on the pitch, but Martin walked out afterwards and it was a chorus of boos.”
Boos rang out when Connor Barron was substituted in the second half, and the discontent was even louder at the full-time whistle.

Rangers fans are also angry at Andrew Cavenagh for raising the ticket prices for Europa League matches at a time when toxicity at the club has never been higher.
Martin will need to produce a miracle by winning a long stretch of games if he is to weather the storm at Ibrox.
Premier Sports Cup clash vs Hibs a must-win for Russell Martin
Cavenagh is attending the quarter-final versus Hibernian on Saturday, and elimination from the cup would surely spell the end of Martin’s disastrous reign at Ibrox.
Rangers have failed to beat Hibs in their past three matches and are looking at the very real possibility of being eliminated from two competitions before the end of September.
The Champions League exit to Club Brugge was when talks of his future had become in doubt, and performances that lacked any sort of attacking threat against Hearts and Celtic have massively increased pressure again.
Martin’s future at Rangers looks to be over, even if he overcomes Hibs at Ibrox, yet a defeat would surely mean that the Bears are looking for a new manager by the end of the week.
