Josh Windass cringes at what he saw around Rangers on Sky Sports News

The Russell Martin era at Rangers has been an unmitigated disaster.

Rangers fans loudly booed Martin as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat to Hearts on Saturday, with Lawrence Shankland scoring both at Ibrox.

Jose Mourinho has been tipped to replace Martin, as the club hierarchy looks to correct the mistake they made in the summer by hiring him.

Rangers have had their worst start to a season in 47 years, with frustration from all around the club being at an all-time high, which is now flowing into the media.

Josh Windass makes feelings clear on Rangers Sky Sports News segment

Josh Windass spent two seasons at Rangers between 2016 and 2018, before the Englishman left for Wigan Athletic.

The midfielder had been with Sheffield Wednesday for the past few seasons, winning promotion to the Championship in 2023.

Windass was linked with a return to Rangers in the summer before signing for Wrexham on a free transfer.

He still looks out for his old club and took to his Instagram to voice his displeasure at a Rangers segment on Sky Sports News.

Martyn Ramsay, a Rangers fan and co-host of the Heart and Hand Podcast, was on the station, giving his views on the current situation at Ibrox.

Windass posted a photo of this with the caption ‘Sky Sports News’, followed by two upside-down smiley face emojis, seemingly cringing.

The former Gers player is clearly fed up with fan media being given a platform on places like Sky Sports News, and he’s not the only one.

Jim White was also critical of fan media asking questions of Martin in a recent press conference.

Josh Windass wrong to criticise fan media

Windass may disapprove of fan media being on Sky Sports News, but it is now a reality of the media landscape.

Fan media can sometimes offer a different, more passionate view of a situation than traditional journalism.

Windass is entitled to his opinion, but he cannot see the value of the different views fans can bring to football discussions.

With Rangers currently toiling, fans being given the platform to share their views can only be a good thing for the Ibrox club going forward.
