Nicolas Raskin in demand at Rangers as insider makes ‘exceptional’ claim
Rangers could potentially struggle to retain Nicolas Raskin for much longer, having kept him in the previous transfer window.
The 24-year-old appears to have a problem with Russell Martin after being left out of the last two matchday squads at the Gers.
Despite Raskin’s brilliance with Belgium during the international break, scoring his first goal for them in the win over Kazakhstan on 7 September, the Scottish manager doesn’t seem to trust him.
With Martin’s future at Ibrox uncertain, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the midfielder return to the team sooner rather than later, but he may not be in G51 for long.

Rangers to field transfer enquiries for Nicolas Raskin soon
Raskin has “a lot of interest” around him after his performances at the Gers, Walid Cheref says.
The RJSK Crisnee ace, playing in the lower level of Belgian football, is the midfielder’s best friend and termed his career trajectory as “exceptional”.
Having made a name for himself at Ibrox last season, the Belgium international is now also catching a lot of eyes on the international stage.
Speaking via The Rangers Review on 16 September, Cheref said: “Football is a very strange environment. It’s not always the best players who are at the top of the bill. Nico is proof of that at Rangers. His career trajectory is exceptional in any case, and I know there is a lot of interest around him.”

Kevin Thelwell right to keep Nicolas Raskin as Russell Martin on the brink
Wolves and Crystal Palace were interested in Raskin in the final days of the previous transfer window, but he ended up staying.
The Belgian midfielder is undoubtedly one of the best players at Martin’s disposal, and fans were heard supporting him as he sat in the stands during the 2-0 loss to Hearts on 13 September.
Fenerbahce and Besiktas also wanted Raskin ahead of the Super Lig deadline on 12 September, but nothing transpired.
- Raskin made 48 appearances in all competitions for the Gers last season.
- Martin has wanted the midfielder to play further up the pitch this season.
- The Belgian star’s contract at Ibrox expires in 2027.
Rangers were right to keep the midfielder, considering the Scottish manager’s sacking seems inevitable at Ibrox.
It looked like Martin wanted to get rid of the Belgium international in the previous transfer window, but sense has arguably prevailed.
Kevin Thelwell’s recruitment in G51 last summer was underwhelming, but the decision to convince Raskin to stay should be commended.
