Paraag Marathe is contradicting his own words with Rangers stance over Russell Martin
Rangers fans were optimistic earlier this summer following a takeover of the club, but things have only gotten worse this season.
Andrew Cavenagh led a consortium with 49ers Enterprises to take over Rangers, and delivered on their promise of investment in the transfer market.
In a summer of upheaval, Rangers hired Kevin Thelwell as a director and Russell Martin as a new manager, with Patrick Stewart remaining as CEO, and Paraag Marathe from the 49ers joining as Vice Chairman.
While most of the blame for Rangers’ current situation has been laid at Martin’s feet, there is now pressure on the new owners to get the fanbase onside with their current project.

Paraag Marathe’s previous comments about winning
Cavenagh and Marathe have talked a good game since arriving at Ibrox, outlining their ambitions for success through investment and a better footballing structure, but they are yet to see results.
Marathe is a key figure at both Leeds United and Rangers, and both clubs have suffered poor starts to the season.
With the Rangers board facing criticism after deciding against sacking Martin yet, Marathe is now contradicting his own words.

Speaking less than a month ago, Marathe explained his footballing philosophy with Leeds, and outlined his desire to win at all costs.
“I’ve been in sports for almost three decades now. I love winning, I hate to lose, and that’s what drives me,” he stated on Sky Sports.
“I don’t think about the commercial side of it, I think about making this club [Leeds] as successful on the pitch, and it matters to me. There’s no hours in the day or weeks in the year that limit me.
“It’s win or go home.”
Paraag Marathe must live by own words over Russell Martin
Marathe’s comments reflect the exact opposite approach that Rangers have adopted with the appointment and backing of Martin.
Martin’s arrival was greeted with scepticism, as he joined as a coach who has stubbornly valued his own philosophy and playing style over results, rather than being a ‘win or go home’ manager.
With Martin failing to win a single league game, he has clearly shown that he is out of his depth, and is costing Rangers badly.
If Marathe does not push for Martin’s dismissal, it will directly contradict what he said about hating to lose, and valuing results over everything else.
If Rangers were truly focused on winning, they would show utter ruthlessness and would not waste valuable time and points on a manager whom the fanbase detests, who has not shown that he can build a winning team at Ibrox.
