No, this isn’t a joke, this is genuinely what Russell Martin did with Rangers squad on Monday morning

Russell Martin seems to be taking the mickey out of Rangers fans after losing to Hearts on Saturday.

The Ibrox faithful witnessed Derek McInnes’ team win in the William Hill Premiership on 13 September, extending their lead to nine points in the table.

With zero wins in the opening five league matches, supporters have witnessed the worst start in 47 years, yet Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe are backing Martin.

The Glaswegian outfit should arguably be on the training pitch getting ready for a tough clash against Hibernian in the Premier Sports Cup, but the Scottish manager has had other things on his mind.

Rangers squad travel to Loch Lomond after loss vs Hearts

Martin and the Gers’ squad headed for the Bonnie Banks on Monday morning after losing to Hearts, according to Chris Jack.

The Scottish journalist revealed that the 39-year-old head coach and the Light Blues’ player travelled to Loch Lomond as they put on their swimming trunks away from Ibrox.

Jack disclosed that the Glaswegian outfit went to the lake instead of having a training session at Auchenhowie, and some fans undoubtedly won’t be pleased with it.

The journalist wrote on X on 15 September: “Martin took his Rangers squad to Loch Lomond for a dip on Monday morning. Perhaps fittingly, it is now sink or swim for the head coach.”

Having watched their team arguably get worse week in, week out, the Gers fans may be baffled to see the squad not preparing for the Hibs clash.

There’s no guarantee that the Light Blues can get past David Gray’s team on 20 September to qualify for the semi-finals of the Premier Sports Cup.

Russell Martin has baffling priorities at Ibrox

Martin’s tenure at Ibrox has been an abject failure, and it’s time that someone in the boardroom takes responsibility for it.

Rangers fans may soon turn their attention to Andrew Cavenagh if the Scottish manager continues to be given opportunities in the dugout.

The former Southampton boss is clearly out of his depth at the Gers, and the trip to Loch Lomond showcases where his priorities lie at the moment.

While it could potentially be a good team bonding exercise for the Glaswegian outfit to travel together, right now, several more pressing issues need to be fixed.
