Russell Martin resignation all-but-spotted at Rangers after latest scenes at Ibrox
Russell Martin’s sorry time in charge of Rangers may be coming to an end already.
Rangers were defeated 2-0 at home to Hearts on Saturday, in another disastrous result for Martin, which left the Ibrox crowd raging again.
The 49ers and Andrew Cavenagh are now under pressure to sack Martin, with Rangers somehow sitting 10th in the Scottish Premiership table.
Martin has yet to win a game in the league, and fans were vocal in their disgust at Ibrox yesterday, chanting for him to be shown the door.

Russell Martin looked ‘uncomfortable’ on sidelines
Rangers’ loss to Hearts on Saturday brought up more questions about Martin’s ability to get results at Ibrox, and in general.
The atmosphere inside Ibrox became toxic quickly, and it looks like it’s only a matter of time before the manager resigns or is replaced, despite Martin saying he wouldn’t walk away.
Speaking on BBC Sportscene, Neil McCann spoke about Martin’s worrying sideline demeanour, which was much different to his defiant words.
He said: “I really felt for him. He looked really uncomfortable at the end of the game; there was almost a resignation. I know he’s not one for walking away, but when the fans show their disdain and their real displeasure like that, then it’s really difficult.”
McCann also gave a damning assessment of Rangers’ attacking struggles this season, saying: “There have been only three goals scored in the five league games, and four draws. That gives the fans ammunition to say we’ve seen enough.”

Martin’s tactics in the loss to Hearts also came under scrutiny, as Rangers failed to score for the second straight league game.

Rangers board have decision to make on Russell Martin’s future
Martin’s tenure at Ibrox appears to be heading only one way, with fans clearly fed up with the direction of the team.
Kevin Thelwell and the board have backed him in the transfer market but have yet to see the results on the pitch, and the pressure could creep up on them too if action isn’t taken.
Martin has also clashed with Nicolas Raskin, with the Belgian left out of the squad for the game on Saturday.
Alongside the on-field issues, these types of stories will not help Martin with the owners, players or fans in Glasgow.
The owners now must be seriously considering the manager’s position, if they weren’t already, especially if this form continues.
Martin has said he won’t resign, but judging by the reaction to the Hearts defeat, he must also see that the writing is on the wall.
