Rangers must follow Sheffield United example as Russell Martin not good enough

Russell Martin has shown that he’s clearly out of his depth at Rangers after losing to Hearts.

Ibrox hosted Derek McInnes’ team in the William Hill Premiership on 13 September, securing their first win in G51 in 11 years with a 2-0 victory.

Kris Boyd feels Martin’s sacking is inevitable, with the home fans joining in with the away supporters during chants for his dismissal.

Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises face a massive decision at the Glaswegian outfit in the coming hours, as they sit 10th in the league table.

Sheffield United sack Ruben Selles, Rangers should follow suit

Sheffield United have sacked Ruben Selles as they sit bottom of the table in the EFL Championship.

The Blades have lost their opening five league matches of the season, and it isn’t surprising to see them take action against the Spanish head coach.

While Martin boasts a better record than Selles at Ibrox, the Gers are also winless in their opening five games in the Scottish top flight.

The Light Blues have endured their worst start in the league in 47 years, and that damning statistic should be enough for the 39-year-old head coach’s dismissal.

Russell Martin handed footballing lesson by Derek McInnes at Ibrox

Martin has to leave Ibrox immediately, and most fans have turned against him as the Gers find themselves in a tough spot.

The Light Blues are nine points behind Hearts in the William Hill Premiership, and it would arguably take a miracle for them to win the league from this point.

While the Glaswegian outfit dominated possession against Hearts, they had nothing to show for it as Lawrence Shankland picked up a brace.

Statistics from Hearts’ win at Ibrox, as per Sofascore

Derek McInnes’ team were all over Rangers at Ibrox, creating several other chances throughout the 90 minutes.

The Gers have lacked a cutting edge in the final third under Martin and have looked devoid of confidence in defence.

If the Scottish manager ends up staying, the games against Hibernian in the Premier Sports Cup may be pivotal as a loss would surely mean the end of his tenure in G51.
