Ally McCoist blasts Russell Martin as ‘fraud’ after Rangers humiliation vs Hearts
Ally McCoist has had enough of Russell Martin as Rangers lost to Hearts on Saturday.
Derek McInnes’ team broke an 11-year record at Ibrox, getting their first win in G51 since 2014 after their 2-0 victory.
The Gers have endured their worst start to a league campaign in 47 years as they haven’t won any of their first five matches.
Martin’s future at Ibrox has come into question, and now, even his reputation seems to have taken a hit after what’s transpired at the Glaswegian outfit.

Russell Martin accused of Rangers sabotage after loss vs Hearts
McCoist was raging at Martin after the Gers’ loss to Hearts, calling him a “fraud”.
The Gers icon’s impassioned rant saw him slam the Scottish manager’s style of play and philosophy after the Jambos won at Ibrox.
McCoist has also accused the 39-year-old head coach of sabotaging the Glaswegian outfit as they sit 10th in the league table.
The 62-year-old wrote on X on 13 September: “Let me just say this straight: Martin is a fraud. He’s come up here with his fancy talk, his possession stats, his philosophy nonsense, and what’s he given Rangers? 10th place. The worst start in living memory. That’s not management, that’s sabotage.”
Ibrox failures see Russell Martin destroy managerial reputation
Martin is under increasing pressure at Ibrox as the likes of McCoist and the Gers fans at large seem to have lost faith in him.
It feels like the Scottish manager’s sacking at the Light Blues is only a matter of time, but it remains to be seen how long Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises will stick with him.
The former Southampton boss hasn’t had the best of times in recent months since his failures with the Saints in the Premier League.
Martin may have destroyed his reputation at Rangers, with McCoist adding: “I’ll tell you what I see: a man who’s blagged his way into a job he’s not fit for, and in the process, humiliated this club and dragged its supporters through the mud. The players don’t respect you, the fans don’t trust you, and now, even your reputation as a manager is finished.”
McInnes arguably schooled the Gers’ management as Lawrence Shankland picked up a brace at Ibrox.
The Light Blues may be ruing appointing the Scottish manager instead of someone with a pedigree in the William Hill Premiership.
It’s safe to say that McCoist wouldn’t mind seeing an immediate change in the Glaswegian outfit’s dugout, and a lot of supporters in G51 will also welcome it.
