Ally McCoist sends message to Russell Martin as he mocks Rangers boss amid sack talk
Rangers have fallen to a new low following a 2-0 defeat to Hearts at Ibrox on Sunday.
Lawrence Shankland’s double saw off Rangers, who were abysmal in every aspect.
Shankland capitalised on poor defending from Nasser Djiga and John Souttar to open the scoring in the 22nd minute,
Rangers improved after the break, but Mohamed Diomande’s lazy challenge gave away a penalty, with Shankland tapping home the rebound.
The result leaves Martin under more pressure, as Rangers sit 10th in the table.
Ally McCoist furious with Russell Martin following Hearts defeat
McCoist took to X to explicitly state his feelings about Martin, and the position Rangers find themselves in.
McCoist said: “Listen, Russell, son… I’ve seen some bad starts in my time, but you’ve managed to take the biscuit, the tray, and the whole tea set with this one. Tenth place? At Rangers? That’s not a league position, that’s a bus route.”
McCoist scored 215 goals over 15 years at Rangers, and the club legend will have rarely seen his team play this badly in his lifetime.
Martin’s omission of Nico Raskin for the Hearts clash heaped even more pressure for Rangers to get the three points on Saturday.
Yet a dismal display against high-flying Hearts has all but sealed Martin’s fate at Ibrox.

With the fallout of the match set to be brutal, the sack looms for Martin, and he may not even be in charge for Rangers’ League Cup match against Hibs.
Kevin Thelwell could also leave Rangers
Thelwell may also leave Rangers if Martin is sacked in the next few days.
He has stuck his neck out for Martin to succeed at the club, whilst also backing him financially in the transfer market.
The signing of Youssef Chermiti for £10m was baffling, with the Portuguese striker not even preferred over Bojan Miovski against Hearts.
Martin’s stint at Rangers has been a complete disaster so far, with Thelwell also largely responsible for his involvement off the pitch.
