Nicolas Raskin defended amid ‘absolute nonsense’ coming out of Rangers
Russell Martin and Nicolas Raskin’s dispute at Rangers has dominated the headlines lately.
The Belgian international has fallen out of favour with Martin at Ibrox, featuring much less than he did last season, even missing the draw against Celtic.
Raskin has also been excluded from the Rangers squad for the Scottish Premiership clash with Hearts on 13 September.
The situation seems to only be getting more toxic as it goes on, and it will surely come to a resolution sooner rather than later.

Nicolas Raskin subject of new Rangers claim
Raskin has been the subject of many controversial Rangers claims, but he is still an Ibrox player until the winter window at the very earliest.
Four Lads Had A Dream have hit back at claims that Raskin leaked the team to Club Brugge before the embarrassing Champions League exit.
It comes after a supposed WhatsApp message that suggested he was the leak at Ibrox after falling out with Martin for his treatment of Hamza Igamane.
Taking to X on 12 September, Four Lads hit back: “I’ve already said
“The WhatsApps doing the rounds today (The other saying he’s suspended & Wolves were in for him) are absolute nonsense.
“Made up lies.”
Rangers would regret losing Nicolas Raskin
Raskin is a top-quality operator in the Scottish Premiership; he proved that with his remarkable performances last time out.
Obviously, there is an amount which would force the Gers into a sale, if the money is too good to refuse, but they should be willing to sell him.
- Raskin joined the Gers in 2023 in a £1.4million deal from Standard Liege
- He made 48 appearances last season, with 11 assists in all competitions
- His current deal at Ibrox runs out in the summer of 2027
Martin has not proved his worth since being appointed, and letting Raskin leave over an underwhelming manager seems to be the wrong move.
If Martin is sacked and Raskin is gone, it may seem like a terrible decision in hindsight, especially if the fee that the Bears get is a low one.
Fans in G51 are already at the end of their tether with the former Southampton man, and if Raskin departs and he stays, it may only get worse.
The 49ers Enterprises group, Andrew Cavenagh and Kevin Thelwell have a decision to make: do they back Martin, or do they support Raskin and end the ex-Saints man’s time in Govan?
The future of the club may depend on the outcome that they reach.
