Derek McInnes to break 11-year Hearts record at Ibrox in ‘woeful’ Rangers claim

Russell Martin could potentially find himself under extreme pressure as Rangers face Hearts on Saturday.

Derek McInnes’ team will travel to Ibrox on 13 September in the William Hill Premiership, with the ex-Kilmarnock boss hoping to build on the Jambos’ unbeaten start in the league campaign.

Nicolas Raskin and Martin still seem to have some issues, with the Belgium international left out of the squad against Hearts.

The former Southampton boss has already lost faith among many supporters in G51, and the American owners may also be left to rue their decision to appoint him soon.

Rangers to lose vs Hearts after Derek McInnes appointment

McInnes has shown he can beat the Gers with Hearts, Ryan Stevenson says.

The former Scottish midfielder believes the 54-year-old head coach seems to have the number of the Light Blues as the Jambos look to end their 19-game winless streak at Ibrox.

Daily Record journalist Michael Gannon wasn’t sure what version of the Glaswegian outfit would turn up, as they’ve been “woeful” this season.

Speaking on Hotline Live on 11 September, Stevenson said: “Hearts’ gain is the fact that McInnes is the manager. I just think in these games, he’s done it with Kilmarnock. He got really good results against Rangers with Kilmarnock. When it comes down to these big games, he usually has a number on it. And I think they will win. I genuinely do.”

Gannon added: “It’s a difficult one to predict because Rangers, domestically, have been woeful.”

Hearts have gone 11 years without win at Ibrox

Martin may face the heat at Ibrox if the Gers can’t put in a good performance against Hearts, and the home fans could potentially go berserk.

The Scottish manager has led the Light Blues to their worst start in the league in 42 years, getting four consecutive draws.

Now, the 39-year-old head coach is surely expected to get a victory to turn the tide in G51 as the Glaswegian outfit have gone 11 years without losing to the Jambos at home.

The Gers’ last five results against Hearts in all competitions

Rangers should sack Martin and Kevin Thelwell if Hearts secure the three points and break their unbeaten run at Ibrox.

The last time the Edinburgh club beat the Gers in Glasgow was on 10 August 2014 in the Scottish Championship.

Even when it comes to away games against the Jambos, the Light Blues haven’t lost in their last nine matches, but McInnes could potentially make history.
