Rangers warned over Nico Raskin situation as Russell Martin talks set
Russell Martin has not started well at Rangers, and the feud with Nico Raskin has taken another twist.
Reports suggested Raskin and Martin have fallen out, with the Belgium international wanting a move away from Ibrox.
Despite being named Rangers Player of the Year in 2024/25, Raskin was left out of the Od Firm Derby squad by Martin.
With Rangers in desperate need of their talisman, a former Rangers player has urged Martin to do the right thing.

Richard Foster desperate to see Nico Raskin starting for Rangers again
Foster made 83 appearances for Rangers in his career across two spells at the club.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show on 10 September, Foster urged Rangers to make the best use out of Raskin.
He said: “I think you try and build your team around your best players, and if Raskin is your best player, then you need to find a way to get him playing.
“Rangers need to be careful that they won’t just disregard Raskin purely because he’s fallen out with a player or had an argument with the manager.
“If a manager can see your value on the pitch, then he needs to find a way to got you on that pitch; then it’s up to the player himself.”
Raskin has been invaluable at G51 since his arrival from Standard Liege in 2023.
Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
2022/23 | 16 | 0 | 2 |
2023/24 | 31 | 1 | 1 |
2024/25 | 48 | 5 | 11 |
2025/26 | 9 | 0 | 0 |
Despite his stats, Martin wanted to sell Raskin this summer, with the midfielder attracting interest from Crystal Palace, Wolves, and a whole host of clubs.
Raskin failed to get his transfer and must now return to Ibrox following his successful time on international duty.
Earlier this week, Raskin scored his first Belgium goal during a 6-0 World Cup Qualifying win over Kazakhstan.
However, despite relations not being good between the pair, this changed following the emergence of new developments at Rangers.

Russell Martin and Nico Raskin hold crucial talks
Reports have suggested that Raskin is back in Martin’s good books after the pair held discussions about the situation.
Raskin will return to first team training, but Martin has made it clear that he must earn his spot back in the starting lineup.
This hopefully puts an end to one of the most drawn-out transfer saga’s in Rangers’ recent history.
Whilst Martin may decide that Saturday’s match against Hearts will be too soon for Raskin’s reintegration, Rangers fans will be desperate to see their star player back in action at Ibrox.
