Hamza Igamane does the unthinkable as Rangers better without striker
Hamza Igamane isn’t a popular figure at Rangers after the manner of his departure from Ibrox.
The centre-forward arguably left Russell Martin red-faced against St Mirren on 24 August after refusing to come on as a substitute at around the hour mark due to an apparent injury.
Days later, though, Igamane completed his medical with Lille, signing a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 outfit.
The Glaswegian outfit did make a profit from the Morocco international’s £10.4million sale, but he won’t be remembered fondly in G51.

Rangers didn’t need Hamza Igamane after unacceptable actions
Igamane did something “unforgivable” after refusing to play for the Gers, Andy Walker says.
The ex-Celtic striker feels the 22-year-old put his manager, teammates and fans under the bus after his antics in Paisley.
Walker believes the Light Blues are stronger without the Moroccan star at Ibrox, and they certainly didn’t need someone not fully committed to the team.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show on 9 September, the Scotsman said: “I admire his football, I don’t admire his methods of getting away. I don’t admire anyone who refuses to play, not just for his manager and the supporters, but refuses to help his teammates.
“That for me would be unforgivable. And I think Rangers will be a better club without him because you don’t want anyone like that hanging around.”

Russell Martin now has Bojan Miovski and Youssef Chermiti dilemma
It looks like Igamane is getting on well away from Ibrox, and the Gers will now hope that Youssef Chermiti can live up to the billing.
The Light Blues spent a hefty sum to sign the Portugal Under-21 international from Everton in the previous transfer window, with Kevin Thelwell arguably putting his reputation on the line.
Martin also has Bojan Miovski at his disposal, with the North Macedonia international returning to Scotland after struggling at Girona.
- Igamane broke into the Gers’ team last season under Philippe Clement.
- Barry Ferguson didn’t seem to trust the young striker during his interim stint at Ibrox.
- The centre-forward scored 12 league goals in the previous campaign.
Rangers face Hearts in a fixture that may define the Scottish manager’s future at Ibrox, and it will be interesting to see who starts up front.
Considering Miovski’s experience in the William Hill Premiership, it shouldn’t be surprising to see him lead the line against Derek McInnes’ team.
While the Gers have splashed the cash on Chermiti, the 21-year-old will undoubtedly need time to settle in Glasgow and regain match sharpness after barely getting any opportunities in Merseyside.
