Rangers news round-up: Russell Martin causes problems as Derek McInnes appointment claim made

Rangers have struggled under Russell Martin so far, and there is already talk of the manager being replaced.

Martin is yet to win in the Scottish Premiership, and tensions are also high behind the scenes after a reported fallout with Nicolas Raskin.

Several Rangers players have shone on International duty during the break, with Raskin scoring his first Belgium goal, and this arguably reflects even worse on Martin.

Ibrox News has now rounded up the latest Rangers news, with the manager facing even more pressure and some players shining.

Derek Cornelius scores screamer for Wales

Derek Cornelius joined Rangers on transfer deadline day, and while he is yet to appear for his new club, fans are already excited.

The defender started in Canada’s victory over Wales, and Cornelius earned huge praise from Robert Earnshaw, as he curled a perfect free-kick into the top corner.

Cornelius is an experienced Canada International, and he will hope to appear at the World Cup next summer.

Thelo Aasgaard scores four for Norway

Thelo Aasgaard has had a slow start for Rangers, but it was a different story as he came off the bench for Norway.

Aasgaard remarkably scored four goals in just 26 minutes as Norway thrashed Moldova 11-1 in a World Cup qualifier, and made history as the first Rangers player to net an International hattrick.

Rangers told to hire Derek McInnes

Martin’s next game will come against Hearts, who are flying under new manager Derek McInnes, and the former Aberdeen boss can pile on more misery for Rangers.

It has now been claimed that Rangers could go back in to hire McInnes if Martin is dismissed, with the 54-year-old linked with a move to Ibrox several times over the years.

McInnes has enjoyed a strong start at Hearts, and the same cannot be said of Martin at Ibrox.

Russell Martin slammed over Joe Rothwell selection

Martin has caused several problems since arriving at Ibrox, and his selection of Joe Rothwell above Raskin at Rangers has been highlighted as another one.

Rothwell has failed to impress since joining from Bournemouth, but has been selected while Raskin has been sidelined by Martin.

It is claimed that Martin is causing his own problem by dropping Rangers’ best player, a Belgium International, for someone of an obviously lower calibre.
