Keith Jackson slams ‘classless’ Celtic after spectacular fail with Rangers dig
Celtic may have shot themselves in the foot with their thinly veiled Rangers dig.
Fans in G40 were left exasperated after the Hoops’ lack of business in the previous transfer window, which saw their Old Firm rivals add 13 new players to the squad.
Celtic hinted at financial struggles at Ibrox in their statement as they tried to justify their lack of investment last summer.
Andrew Cavenagh may have one-upped Dermot Desmond, with the Light Blues’ chairman putting his money where his mouth is in G51.

Celtic fans even more infuriated after Rangers pop
Celtic’s pop at the Gers could potentially have done more harm, with their supporters even more agitated, Keith Jackson says.
The Daily Record journalist branded the Hoops “classless” for trying to pander to their fans by taking a sly dig at the situation at Ibrox.
Jackson feels the Parkhead faithful aren’t concerned about what’s going on at the Beards while their own club fails to do their job.
Speaking on Hotline Live on 8 September, the journalist said: “That was classless. It was an attempt to pander, but it didn’t hit, didn’t land. All it did was infuriate Celtic supporters who have heard all this stuff too many times.
“They don’t care about what’s happening at Rangers. You do your work, do your job. And I’m afraid Celtic have been guilty of failing to do that on a spectacular level.”

Russell Martin to use Celtic struggle to his advantage at Ibrox
Martin may still have a chance to compete with Celtic in the William Hill Premiership, despite the six-point gap after just four league matches.
The Gers have struggled under the Scottish manager, yet they were able to nullify the Hoops in the Old Firm derby on 31 August.
With both Old Firm rivals needing to fix their own issues, the former Southampton boss could potentially claw the Light Blues back level with Brendan Rodgers’ team in the league table.
- Celtic lost key players like Nicolas Kuhn, Greg Taylor and Adam Idah last summer.
- Kairat knocked out Rodgers’ team from the Champions League.
- Kelechi Iheanacho’s singing as a free agent arguably didn’t please many fans in G40.
If Rangers manage to beat Hearts on 13 September, they will temporarily reduce the gap to three points with Celtic, who face Kilmarnock at the BBSP Stadium Rugby Park on 14 September.
Martin could possibly use the unrest at Celtic to his advantage, but it remains to be seen whether the Scottish manager can first quell concerns in G51.
It seems like the title race is going to be close this season, with the Old Firm rivals facing uncertainty on and off the pitch.
