Keith Jackson baffled by what Celtic have done despite Rangers prospect
Rangers fans will undoubtedly take some delight from seeing Celtic go through a period of struggle.
The Gers are facing a crisis under the new management, having won just three of their opening 11 matches of the season, but their Old Firm rivals also seem to be having some issues.
Despite the Light Blues’ abysmal form, Celtic were unable to take the three points at Ibrox in what was a drab affair for both sets of supporters.
While Russell Martin may have Kevin Thelwell to thank for him still being in charge in G51, the Hoops could potentially have their own problems with Brendan Rodgers.

Celtic transfer statement wasn’t needed as Rangers loss to Hearts would have calmed situation
Celtic should’ve waited for the Gers to possibly drop more points against Hearts to calm the situation in Parkhead, Keith Jackson says.
Instead, the Hoops decided to come out with a statement defending their transfer policy, which has only further angered fans in G40.
Jackson can’t believe the hole Celtic have dug themselves when all they had to do was to wait for the prospect of increasing the lead over their Old Firm rivals, who play Derek McInnes’ team at Ibrox on 13 September.
Speaking on Hotline Live on 7 September, the journalist said: “If I’m Celtic and I’m looking at it and just say, ‘Look, everybody stay calm. There’s a very high chance that Rangers will drop more points at home to Hearts when the league gets back up and running, and then Celtic can extend their lead to possibly nine points.’ And by that point, everything calms down.
“Yet Celtic, without playing any games, they’ve actually antagonised their supporters and gotten them even angrier than they were when the window shut. And that’s quite some doing. I didn’t think that would be possible. But well done Celtic, you’ve done it.”

Russell Martin can get back into William Hill Premiership title race
Martin’s job at Ibrox seems to be on thin ice, but circumstances in Glasgow can change in a matter of days.
Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises splashed the cash at the Light Blues in the previous transfer window, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them stick with the Scottish manager despite the poor start.
Celtic haven’t been at their vintage best and lost some key players like Nicolas Kuhn, Greg Taylor and Adam Idah from last season, without buying adequate replacements before the 1 September deadline.
- Celtic were knocked out of the Champions League by Kairat.
- The Hoops have won just two of their last five matches in all competitions.
- The Gers can temporarily go within three points of their Old Firm rivals with a win against Hearts.
Bojan Miovski is arguably the best deal Rangers have pulled off recently, giving Martin an impressive option to solve the goalscoring issues in G51.
The Gers signed 13 players last summer, and it’s now up to the former Southampton boss to get the best out of them.
Considering Rodgers’ current situation at Parkhead, the Light Blues should use it to their advantage and claw their way back into title contention.
