Alan Rough title prediction to baffle Rangers fans as Russell Martin abysmal

Rangers fans have already lost hope of competing for the William Hill Premiership under Russell Martin.

The Gers have drawn their opening four fixtures in the league this season, and now sit six points behind Celtic and Hearts in the table.

Martin is certainly under extreme pressure at Ibrox, with the Light Blues getting off to their worst league start in 42 years.

Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises’ £20million net investment at the Glaswegian outfit may mean they’re backing the Scottish manager, who may yet turn things around in G51.

Rangers predicted to finish second in William Hill Premiership

Celtic will win the William Hill Premiership, with the Gers finishing just behind them, Alan Rough says.

The former Scotland international doesn’t think the points gap between the Old Firm rivals will be as significant as last season, which may come as a shock at Ibrox.

After just four league matches, the Bears find themselves six points behind the Hoops, and with the way things are going under Martin, it could potentially get worse.

Speaking on PLZ Soccer on 8 September, Rough said: “I think we’re all looking forward to the new signings at Rangers. I’m sure again they’ll be too strong for the rest of the teams. I don’t think we’ll see a 20-point gap at the end of the year. I think it’ll be a lot closer. So I’m going to put Rangers into second place.”

While Brendan Rodgers has his own issues at Celtic, with fans turning against the board after an underwhelming summer transfer window, they’re still favourites for the league title.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Hoops run away with the William Hill Premiership again as long as the Scottish manager remains in charge in G51.

Martin sack on cards at Ibrox

Martin’s future should depend on the Hearts result in the league on 13 September, and a loss may well be the end of his tenure at the Gers.

While the Rangers board seem to be backing the 39-year-old head coach, defeat in the upcoming fixture will undoubtedly make his situation untenable in the eyes of the fans.

Derek McInnes has the Jambos playing some good football this season, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them give Celtic a better challenge for the title.

Supporters in G51 have already lost hope for the campaign after the displays they’ve seen under Martin, and there is no hope in Ibrox of winning a title right now.
