Celtic fail with dreadful new statement despite veiled dig at Rangers included
Rangers have had a dismal start to the season, but bitter rivals Celtic are also in crisis, with both sets of fans extremely unhappy.
Celtic and Rangers played out a drab 0-0 draw in the Old Firm, which summed up their problems as both sides lacked any sort of firepower or creativity.
Rangers had a strong end to the transfer window in which they signed 13 new players, with Derek Cornelius and Youssef Chermiti arriving on deadline day.
While the jury is out over some of their signings, Rangers have had a better window than Celtic, who failed to replace key players, and they since issued a statement over their failures.

Celtic aim dig at Rangers in club statement
With Celtic fans unhappy, they have now issued a club statement addressing their window, and they could not resist having a pop at Old Firm rivals Rangers.
Celtic suffered a shock exit to Kairat Almaty in the Champions League play-offs before bringing in replacements for star players such as Nicolas Kuhn, and their fans were unhappy at their lack of decisive transfer activity.
In their statement, Celtic made excuses for their lack of transfer activity, and aimed a thinly veiled dig at Rangers for their financial troubles in the past.
“We can never compromise the financial integrity of the Club. In short, throwing money at transfers and contracts is not a sustainable route to success, as many other clubs have found to the detriment of their supporters,” they stated.
Celtic recruited 12 players in the transfer window, for a total of around £13 million, a much lower total then the fee they received for Kuhn, while Rangers spent around £26m on reinforcements across the squad.
Rangers did recruit Bojan Miovski, who could be a much better addition than Kelechi Iheanacho, whom Celtic signed to replace Adam Idah on deadline day.

Celtic slammed for Rangers dig
In his column, Stephen McGowan slammed Celtic for this dig, which was seen as an inevitable way to deflect from their own failings.
“The UEFA financial sustainability rules faced by clubs all over Europe explain why they can’t be expected to start throwing money around before a Champions League play-off, the same as everyone else,” he wrote in Herald Scotland.
“Lob in the obligatory veiled dig at Rangers and the only thing missing was a marker pen and a Celtic bingo card.”
With both clubs underperforming, with the pair both out of the Champions League, it would be wise for Celtic to focus on themselves, but their dig at Rangers shows that their priorities are very misplaced.
