Scott Brown calls out fellow pundit live on BBC over Rangers slip-up
Scotland claimed a hard-fought draw against Denmark in the first match of their World Cup qualifying campaign.
Scotland defended resolutely against the nation ranked 21st in the world, as Rangers centre-back John Souttar responded to criticism with an assured performance.
The match finished 0-0, although there was huge moment of contention when the ball hit Max Johnston’s arm when he was the last man.
Former Rangers player and Denmark international Peter Lovenkrands felt Johnston should have ben sent off, prompting Celtic legend Scott Brown to make a light-hearted comment.

Scott Brown teases Peter Lovenkrands over Rangers allegiance
On BBC Sport Scotland’s coverage of the match, as shared via X, Lovenkrands analysed the incident, claiming that Denmark should consider themselves unlucky that VAR intervene.
In response, Brown said: “At one point, you did shout ‘penalty Rangers’, that’s what I was hearing!”
Lovenkrands laughed the joke off, saying that Scotland would have wanted a red card had it been the other way around.
Lovenkrands became a cult hero for Rangers in the 2000s, spending six years at the club.
- Signed for £1.4m from Danish side AB in 2000
- Scored 54 goals in 182 appearances for Rangers
- Netted a last-minute winner against Celtic in the 2002 Scottish Cup final
Lovenkrands was previously linked with becoming the Rangers manager many year ago, and whilst that won’t happen now, he has always been thought of highly at Ibrox.
John Souttar shines for Scotland whilst Liam Kelly watches on
Souttar has not started the season well, with Rangers winless in the Scottish Premiership.
His performance against Denmark was brilliant, repelling waves of attacks as Scotland hung on for a point that could have huge ramifications in their bid to qualify for the World Cup.
It was a contrasting night for Kelly, who had to watch on as Angus Gunn excelled between the sticks.
Kelly is also the second-choice keeper for Rangers, with Jack Butland very unlikely displaced.
Lovenkrands is a massive fan of Butland and Kelly will need to impress in training if he is to play for either a club or national team.
