Rangers have in-house Clinton Nsiala solution after Ibrox transfer twist

Russell Martin could potentially make Clinton Nsiala an influential part of his plans at Rangers.

The former AC Milan defender broke into the first-team setup under Philippe Clement last season, but seems to be surplus to requirements under the new management at the Gers.

Nsiala snubbed a move to Dynamo Kyiv on Scottish deadline day, but with windows open elsewhere around Europe, the centre-back could still be on his way out in the coming days.

Martin is under severe pressure at Ibrox after what has arguably been an abysmal start to the season in G51, and changes are undoubtedly needed to turn the fortunes around.

Clinton Nsiala should be experimented at left-back for Rangers

Nsiala is currently training with the Gers’ Under-19s, which will certainly be hugely disappointing for him.

In the previous campaign, it looked like the 21-year-old could become an influential part of the Light Blues’ backline for years to come, but that hasn’t happened at Ibrox.

Barry Ferguson showed little faith in the left-footed French youngster, and Martin has now seemingly ostracised him from the first-team setup.

With the Glaswegian outfit shipping in 17 goals under the Scottish manager, it would make sense to play someone like Nsiala at left-back.

While Jayden Meghoma’s initial performances at Ibrox have been impressive, the Gers are lacking defensive solidity.

With the possibility of the ex-Milan defender tucking in and forming a back-three during the Light Blues’ attacking transitions, it’s something Martin should think about.

Pogon want Clinton Nsiala transfer from Ibrox

Nsiala is attracting interest from Polish side Pogon, with the transfer window in the Ekstraklasa closing on 8 September.

The centre-back showed immense potential at Rangers in the previous campaign when given regular opportunities, and it would make sense for him to leave unless Martin has other ideas.

John Souttar and Derek Cornelius should be the first-choice defensive partnership at the Gers going forward, with Nasser Djiga struggling recently.

With Nsiala’s situation still up in the air, only time will tell where he will be playing his football this season.
