Rangers have Adam Idah example at Celtic after Youssef Chermiti transfer
Russell Martin has a dilemma at Rangers after signing Youssef Chermiti from Everton in the previous transfer window.
The 21-year-old has completed a move to the Gers for £10million, including add-ons, which represents the highest fee they have spent on a single player in 25 years.
Kevin Thelwell has certainly put his reputation on the line for Chermiti after deciding to reunite with the centre-forward despite his underwhelming spell at the Toffees.
Bojan Miovski has also been signed at Ibrox, and with the North Macedonia international returning to the William Hill Premiership, there may be a selection headache in G51.

Youssef Chermiti absence from starting lineup to be questioned at Rangers
People could potentially question the Gers for spending a hefty fee on Chermiti if Miovski starts over him, Hugh Keevins says.
Sky Sports reported Gordon Duncan suggests that spending a large sum on a player doesn’t guarantee they will start for the team, as seen with Adam Idah at Celtic last season.
Similarly, Chermiti may not be the first-choice number nine at Ibrox this season, but that seems unthinkable with the Glaswegian outfit making him their second-highest incoming transfer.
Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard on 3 September, Duncan said: “Last season, Idah wasn’t ahead of Kyogo [Furuhashi]. He might have cost more. Football isn’t always that simple.”
Keevins responded: “If Miovski starts, people will then say, ‘He’s the second highest incoming transfer ever, and he doesn’t play?'”

Bojan Miovski vs Youssef Chermiti: Who should start under Russell Martin?
Chermiti’s consistent fitness issues at Everton in recent seasons make him an unreliable addition for the Gers.
It’s somewhat concerning that the Light Blues were willing to sanction the Portugal Under-21 international’s addition at the Light Blues despite his failure to score a goal for the Toffees.
In two seasons at Goodison Park, the 21-year-old failed to register a single goal or assist, which has left many fans wondering why the deal was pursued in the first place.
Team | Player | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Everton | Youssef Chermiti | 24 | 0 | 0 |
Aberdeen | Bojan Miovski | 98 | 44 | 7 |
Miovski’s addition at Rangers represents impressive business, and he could be considered their best summer signing.
The 26-year-old knows the William Hill Premiership well, having spent some fruitful years at Aberdeen before moving to Girona.
While Miovski’s one-year stint at Girona was underwhelming, he is undoubtedly capable of rediscovering his goalscoring form in G51 and should be the go-to centre-forward for Martin despite the pressure to justify the money spent on Chermiti.
