Rangers better off without Russell Martin and Kevin Thelwell after exit revelation
Rangers have had a woeful start to the season despite a new manager and hierarchy coming in during the summer at Ibrox.
A consortium led by the 49ers Enterprises completed a takeover of Rangers, promising success through smart and increased investment.
After hiring Kevin Thelwell as sporting director, initial excitement was quelled when the new owners settled on Russell Martin as their new manager, with a negative fan reaction.
This reaction has since been justified, with Martin overseeing a winless start in the Scottish Premiership and a Champions League humiliation, but Rangers do not intend to bow down to fan sentiment and sack him just yet.

Kevin Thelwell threatens to walk if Russell Martin is sacked
With Rangers fans calling for Martin to be sacked after just three months in charge, it has now emerged that Thelwell is determined for the manager to receive more time.
It has been reported that Thelwell has even threatened to leave if Martin is dismissed, with some within Rangers seemingly keen on parting ways with him, but the director is keen on him to stay.
There is already a rift within the hierarchy over what to do with Martin, and given that the new owners, director and manager all joined in the same summer, this is a brand new situation.
Martin is deeply unpopular among the Rangers fanbase, and Thelwell’s insistence that he stays could put the former Everton director in the firing line as well.

Rangers could move on from Kevin Thelwell and Russell Martin
Rangers fans will be stunned if Thelwell did indeed threaten to walk if Martin is dismissed, but it is not the power play that the director may think it is.
A lot of fans will be very happy if Martin is sacked and Thelwell goes with him. His appointment was welcomed at Ibrox, but so far, he has earned poor reviews.
Thelwell has taken a huge gamble on Youssef Chermiti, while several signings, such as Joe Rothwell, have failed to impress.
The decision to hire Martin lands on Thelwell, and given the disastrous results, both figures leaving could be exactly what Rangers need, rather than letting the director delay the inevitable and potentially choose Martin’s replacement.
