Chris Jack names Rangers best signing of the summer Russell Martin ‘delighted’ with
Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have put their money where their mouth is with a circa £20million net spend at Rangers in the previous transfer window.
Russell Martin was given the reins at Ibrox to start the new era under the American owners, but the Scottish manager has failed to convince many that he’s the right person for the job.
The poor performance against Celtic in the Old Firm derby in the William Hill Premiership on 31 August marked the fourth consecutive league draw to start the season.
Changes will certainly be expected at the Gers after the international break, and some of the new signings will undoubtedly have a big role to play.

Bojan Miovski signing of the summer at Rangers
Bojan Miovski will score a minimum of 20 goals for the Gers this season, Chris Jack says.
The Scottish journalist has tipped the North Macedonia international to be the Light Blues’ most influential addition from the previous transfer window at Ibrox.
In the interview with the Glaswegian outfit’s official website, Martin admitted he was “delighted” to have the 26-year-old at his disposal, and fans will hope he can find his feet once again in G51.
Jack wrote in The Rangers Review on 4 September: “The signing of the summer in my eyes. Finally, Rangers have gone out and bought someone who is proven in the Scottish top division. He made himself a nuisance on his Old Firm debut, and I have no doubt that he’ll find the net this year. 20 goals minimum. Come back to me in May.”

Youssef Chermiti dilemma emerges for Russell Martin at Ibrox
Youssef Chermiti’s multi-million move to Ibrox from Everton saw the Gers spend £10m, including add-ons, the most they have spent on a single player in 25 years.
Kevin Thelwell signed the 21-year-old during his time at Goodison Park, and he has now reunited with the centre-forward at the Light Blues.
It looks like the Glaswegian outfit’s sporting director has immense faith in the Portugal Under-21 international, who played in just four Premier League games last season.
- Thelwell signed Chermiti at Everton for £11.5m in 2023 from Sporting CP.
- The striker didn’t score a single goal for the Toffees.
- Last season, the centre-forward was injured for a considerable period.
Martin will surely be expected to start Chermiti at Rangers, given the amount of money they paid for him.
While Miovski is a proven goalscorer in Scotland after his impressive spell at Aberdeen, it remains to be seen whether he will start over the former Everton youngster.
With the pressure already mounting on the Scottish manager, he will definitely have several selection headaches at the Light Blues in the coming weeks.
