West Ham star loves Rangers transfer news he saw on deadline day – ‘It’s going to pop’
Rangers finished off a busy summer transfer window with two new signings arriving on deadline day, with mixed reviews of their business.
Youssef Chermiti arrived from Everton in Rangers’ biggest transfer outlay in 25 years, while Derek Cornelius joined on loan from Marseille.
Cyriel Dessers also departed for Panathinaikos, while Oscar Cortes completed a loan move to Sporting Gijon.
Rangers‘ business has been criticised, but their deadline day deals have drawn some praise.

Mateus Fernandes praises Youssef Chermiti signing
Chermiti’s move to Rangers is a controversial one, with many questioning whether the 21-year-old is worth the potential £10 million package paid for him.
The striker failed to score in 24 games at Everton, but Kevin Thelwell clearly believes in his talent, having brought him to England from Sporting Club De Portugal in 2023.

The attacker was a very promising talent at Sporting, and played alongside Mateus Fernandes, who has just joined West Ham for over £40m.
Chermiti’s arrival at Rangers has now been announced, and Fernandes took to Instagram to express his excitement over the deal.
“It’s going to pop,” he commented on Rangers’ announcement video for Chermiti’s signing.
Luis Figo praised Youssef Chermiti at Sporting
Many have judged Chermiti on his lack of game time at Everton, but when they signed him from Sporting, he was regarded as a top talent, and at 21, he still has the potential to become a star.
Chermiti drew praise from none other than Luis Figo, who claimed that the striker would bring “joy” to his team.
“[Chermiti] is one more product of the great training that the club has,” he stated during Chermiti’s time at Sporting.
“Every youngster has his stage and his years of evolution, so it’s good that at such a young age he already has that experience and opportunity to play in the first team. [He] will certainly bring many joys to Sporting.”
If Chermiti fulfils his potential, then Rangers fans will quickly grow to admire him, and the fee will look like a bargain, but he will need to have some immediate impact to justify such a big outlay.
