Rahul has covered Rangers on Ibrox News since joining Breaking Media in March 2025. He has previously written for Goalkeeper.com, Planet Football, Snack Media, GRV Media and others since graduating from the University of Edinburgh in 2021. During his time in Edinburgh, Rahul would regularly trek across to Glasgow to watch Rangers in action at Ibrox, during the days of Pedro Caixinha and Steven Gerrard's managerial spells.

Rangers completed a deadline day move for Marseille defender Derek Cornelius, who will bring experience to the back line.

Cornelius was one of two deadline-day signings as Youssef Chermiti also joined Rangers in a move which has caused concern over his price tag.

Rangers needed a defender after a woeful start to the season saw them keep just one clean sheet and win none of their opening four games.

Canada International defender Cornelius has joined on loan with an option to buy, and there is some anticipation that he can become a key player this season.

Derek Cornelius to feature for Canada against Romania

Rangers are not in action until they face Hearts after the International break, but fans will be able to see their new signing play before then.

Cornelius has now linked up with the Canada squad for the break, in which they will face Romania and Wales in friendlies.

Canada's clash with Romania will take place on Friday, September 5, with a kick-off time of 7 pm, and will be played in Bucharest.

Ianis Hagi to face Derek Cornelius

Rangers fans tuning in to watch the game will spot a familiar face coming up against Cornelius, in recently released midfielder Ianis Hagi.

Hagi is still a free agent after departing Rangers at the end of last season, with injuries preventing him from truly reaching his potential at Ibrox.

Canada are one of the hosts of the World Cup next year, and there will be increased focus on preparations within the National Team.

Cornelius has 35 caps to his name as one of the more experienced defenders in the squad, and these games will give Rangers fans an insight into what he can offer when he joins the team.
