Youssef Chermiti medical results are in as Rangers line up multiple deadline day deals

Rangers fans are anxiously waiting to see what Kevin Thelwell can do to strengthen Russell Martin’s squad before the summer transfer window shuts on Monday.

Martin’s horrendous start to the season has seen the Rangers manager come under huge pressure already, having won just three of 11 competitive games since taking charge.

Everton forward Youssef Chermiti is widely reported to be on his way to Rangers.

However, he might not be the only arrival before the 11pm deadline on Monday.

Youssef Chermiti completes Rangers medical

Chermiti has reportedly passed his medical to join Rangers on a permanent basis.

According to TeamTalk, the 21-year-old is joining the Light Blues in a deal that is valued over £10million due to performance-based add-ons.

Everton will receive £8million up front for the Portuguese striker, who is yet to play a game this season.

Rangers’ agreement for Chermiti is a huge one, dwarfing the £4.2million agreed to take Bojan Miovski from Girona, who is a proven goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership from his days at Aberdeen.

Chermiti signed for Everton from Sporting CP in August 2023.

However, in two years, the Portugal Under-21 international has only played 24 times in all competitions for the Premier League club and hasn’t scored a single goal.

Who else will Rangers sign on deadline day?

It’s a bit of an understatement to say that Thelwell‘s signings at Rangers have been underwhelming

Nasser Djiga, Emmanuel Fernandez, Max Aarons and Joe Rothwell are among those who’ve struggled and contributed massively to the club crashing out of the Champions League with a 9-1 aggregate defeat to Club Brugge.

Thelwell is working alongside Martin to get deals done though and Canadian Marseille defender Derek Cornelius looks like he’s heading to Rangers.

He’s reportedly agreed a four-year contract with the Gers.

Crystal Palace winger Jerusun Rak-Sakyi has also been linked, but a deal for him looks unlikely.

Outgoings could be a big bit of news at Ibrox with Nicolas Raskin and Cyriel Dessers both potentially moving on before deadlines pass across European football.
