‘I’m told deals done for Rangers double signing’, one more forward could also sign

Rangers could be on the verge of two signings before the end of the window.

Russell Martin has had a difficult start to his time at Ibrox, but has still been afforded plenty of signings throughout the summer.

With that being said, a number of deals look set to go down to the wire, even after Rangers completed the signing of Bojan Miovski from Girona ahead of the Old Firm draw against Celtic.

As a result, the Govan faithful will have one eye on the G51 club as they wait for new signings to be announced ahead of the 11pm deadline on 1 September.

This has seen a fresh update emerge, which could result in a double swoop before the summer window slams shut.

Rangers on verge of double signing

There has been no shortage of incoming and outgoing transfer rumours from Ibrox throughout deadline day.

This has most recently seen Cyriel Dessers edge closer to a Rangers exit after weeks of departure links, with Greek side Panathinaikos winning the race for the striker’s signature.

Nico Raskin has also of interest away from Rangers, although it remains unclear whether the midfielder will actually move on this summer.

With these deals potentially in the pipeline, the potential of signings are still possible for Martin’s side with Rangers showing a keen interest in Youssef Chermiti and Derek Cornelius.

As the deadline approaches, there are concerns that these deals won’t get done, but Kheredine Idessane reported to BBC Sport on 1 September that both deals are said to be complete.

He said: “I’m told the deals are done at Rangers for Everton striker Youssef Chermiti and Marseille’s Canada defender Derek Cornelius.

“We await the official announcement from Ibrox.”

The journalist also added that the Gers’ transfer business may not be done after this duo, with another forward also being chased at this late stage.

Rangers set to confirm Youssef Chermiti signing

With Dessers seemingly on his way out of Ibrox, there is certainly going to be a need for a new striker option for the rest of the season.

That could see a move for Chermiti make perfect sense, with a permanent deal looking likely for the G51 club before the transfer deadline.

It hasn’t been the greatest spell at Everton for the Portugal youth international, but a switch to the Scottish Premiership could benefit him massively.

As a result, fans are awaiting his signing alongside Cornelius, especially if another attacking option is to follow him through the doors in Govan.
