Cyriel Dessers in deadline-busting Rangers exit update as replacement arrives at Auchenhowie

Rangers have had an incredibly busy transfer window, signing seven players before transfer deadline day.

All the talk has been regarding the striker positions, with Cyriel Dessers likely to leave Rangers before the deadline.

With Russell Martin facing increased pressure, he’ll be hoping his new frontmen hit the ground running and restore faith in Rangers fans.

With Rangers having sold Hamza Igamane, and replacing him with Bojan Miovski, Rangers are still on the hunt for attacking reinforcements, with one striker on the verge of joining.

Youssef Chermiti arrives at Rangers

According to Sky Sports reports, Chermiti has arrived at the Rangers Training Centre ahead of his £8m move to Rangers.

The Portuguese forward joined Everton in 2023, and was signed by current Ibrox sporting director Kevin Thelwell for £15m.

With the forward now well below Beto and Thierno Barry in the pecking order, game time was not a realistic proposal that David Moyes could offer Chermiti.

Chermiti’s goal record has been simply non-existent at Everton, and it’s up to him to fulfil the potential he has shown as a youngster.

With Rangers spending big money on the forward, the Ibrox faithful will be hoping that Chermiti can help change their fortunes.

Cyriel Dessers set for Greek adventure

Dessers is on the verge of moving to Greek side Panathinaikos, having arrived in Athens earlier on Monday, Sky Sports adds.

After Rangers’ 0-0 draw with Celtic, Martin said that it would likely be Dessers’ “last game for the club.”

Having joined from Cremonese two years ago, Dessers has been an outstanding signing for Rangers, and has proven to be prolific and dependable.

Miovski and Chermiti will need to replicate those sorts of numbers if they are to come close to improving what Dessers brought to Rangers.
