Cyriel Dessers exit ‘confirmed’ as Rangers say goodbye to strike in late deal
Cyriel Dessers looks set to complete a move away from Rangers on deadline day.
Dessers always looked likely to leave Rangers before the end of the window as Russell Martin continues his revolution at Ibrox.
Despite this, Dessers came on in the Old Firm against Celtic amid strong exit links as the Gers played out a boring 0-0 draw against their local rivals.
That looks destined to be the Nigeria international’s final game in a Light Blues shirt after Rangers lined up a last-gasp exit for Dessers before the 11pm deadline.
This has now seen a departure edge closer for Dessers, with the forward preparing to part ways with the Bears after two full seasons.

Cyriel Dessers to complete deadline day Rangers exit
There has been an influx of new signings in Govan this summer as Martin looks to replace the old guard with fresh faces for this campaign.
This has most recently seen Bojan Miovski come in at Rangers from Girona to seemingly become the go-to man up top under the English head coach.
It appears that this incoming deal has allowed for an Ibrox departure as the picture continues to become clearer in G51 before the end of the window.
This has seen Sacha Tavolieri report on 1 September that Dessers has completed a move to Greek outfit Panathinaikos from the Light Blues.
The Belgian journalist has suggested that this deal is “confirmed,” although there has been no formal announcement from either side to this point.

Rangers show huge faith in Danilo and Bojan Miovski
It is fair to say that Dessers wasn’t hugely appreciated for his work in Govan, despite becoming a regular source of goals under multiple managers.
As a result, that mantle has now been passed down to both Miovski and Danilo, who have a big job on their hands for the upcoming season.
The latter has yet to truly prove himself since a big-money move last summer, while the former Aberdeen man has a proven track record in the Scottish Premiership.
It will certainly be interesting to see how this pair can cope or whether Martin will regret allowing Dessers to go at this late stage of the summer.
