Kris Boyd does not like what Rangers fans did at Ibrox vs Celtic as footage emerges

Russell Martin was once again the subject of heavy jeers as Rangers played out a boring draw against Celtic on Sunday afternoon.

Rangers played out a 0-0 draw with Celtic, starting well but failing to create many chances as John Souttar’s disallowed goal was the big talking point.

Martin has faced heavy sack pressure already at Ibrox, with the Bears drawing their four opening games and sitting sixth in the Scottish Premiership.

With Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe watching on from the stands, the home crowd let their feelings be known at the end of play.

Kris Boyd calls out Rangers fans at Ibrox

Kris Boyd was on live Sky coverage for the Old Firm, and was giving his analysis when the boos started ringing out around Ibrox.

The former Rangers striker was not impressed, saying the squad clearly gave their all for the shirt.

Speaking live on Sky Sports Football (31 August), Boyd immediately reacted to the sound of boos coming from the Ibrox stands as Martin left the pitch.

“I don’t like it,” he said.

“As I said, even the players being booed onto the pitch and off the pitch, they’ve given their all.

“Sometimes it’s just not good enough, but they’ve given their all. You don’t need to boo people off the pitch.

“There’s a lot of frustration with the Rangers fans right now.”

Could Russell Martin be sacked?

Martin has insisted that his Rangers future is secure, for now.

After fresh talks with the American owners, who jetted in for the Old Firm, he would have been desperate for all three points against Celtic.

Should Souttar have stayed onside for his goal, Celtic never looked like scoring, so it could have been a huge three points for everyone in blue.

Instead, Rangers have four points from twelve and sit behind Hibernian, who have only played twice so far.

With three games against sides expected to be battling to try and escape the bottom six, so Martin will know it is nowhere near good enough.

Of course, everyone knows it is a rebuild, but at Rangers, you need to win games while doing it, or you will lose the fans and be sacked before you can really get going.

That is the brutal reality of it.
