French media blown away by what ‘irrepressible’ Hamza Igamane did in first game since Rangers exit

Hamza Igamane made a fantastic first impression since leaving Rangers.

Igamane left Ibrox this week and signed for LOSC Lille after just one season with the Light Blues.

The forward netted 16 goals during his 47 appearances for Rangers as his spell in Glasgow ended on a sour note.

Igamane refused to come on as a substitute against St Mirren as Russell Martin’s side drew their third consecutive league game to start the new campaign.

Hamza Igamane’s Lille debut wows French media

Despite recent reports claiming that Igamane was not at full fitness, the striker appears to have made a full recovery as he netted two goals on his Lille debut.

It was not a miraculous medical recovery that left the French media in awe of the striker, but his performance on the pitch.

Journalist Nabil Djellit reacted to his performance on X on 30 August, claiming Igamane is a “very interesting” player.

RMC Sport stated the youngster was “irrepressible” during Lille’s 7-1 win away against Lorient.

Igamane’s performance also caught the eye of L’Equipe, as they claimed the former Rangers man showed “class and composure” in his first game since leaving Scotland.

Whilst talking to French Football Weekly, meanwhile, Igamane’s new teammate Thomas Meunier was full of praise for the new arrival.

“The talent is there, it’s innate,” Meunier said. “He picks up the ball well, knows how to keep it, is technical, able to combine, deliver passes or mark. That’s all we need. He’s a different profile than Olivier [Giroud].”

Hamza Igamane’s form irrelevant to Rangers

For all the talent the youngster possesses, you simply cannot have a player with that attitude at the club if you’re Martin.

Igamane’s refusal to do the job he was very well compensated for at Rangers is a slap in the face to all the working-class supporters who work hard and spend their money to watch their team play home and away.

For most, making one appearance for Gers off the bench would be a dream come true, and the fact Igamane chose to turn his nose up at that privilege shows he is not aware of just how lucky he is.

With the signing of Bojan Miovski now confirmed at Rangers, Martin will be hoping his new striker becomes the talisman he so desperately needs.
