Rangers fans ‘to go mental’ after what’s now been said about Russell Martin sack
Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe wouldn’t have thought they would be contemplating sacking Russell Martin at Rangers this early into the season.
Martin is on thin ice after Rangers lost to Club Brugge at the Jan Breydel Stadium on 27 August, with the Champions League playoff ending 9-1 on aggregate.
Martin claims Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell still back him despite the 6-0 defeat in the second leg against the Belgian outfit, but it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds.
Supporters had thought the American takeover would bring back the good times at the Glaswegian outfit, but things may not be any different under the US consortium.

Alan Brazil expects Rangers fans to lose heads if Celtic win
If Celtic beat the Gers in the Old Firm derby away from home on 31 August, supporters in G51 may lose it, Alan Brazil says.
The talkSPORT pundit believes the Light Blues can’t afford sacking Martin at Ibrox as they don’t have the financial means to do so.
With fans already frustrated with the Scottish manager after the embarrassing defeat against Brugge, a loss to Brendan Rodgers’ team will undoubtedly make matters worse for him.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 28 August, Brazil said: “Rangers can’t afford to sack him. They’re skint, there’s no doubt about it.”
Agbonlahor added: “If they lose on the weekend at home to Celtic…”
Brazil responded: “The fans would go mental.”

Russell Martin has no excuses at Ibrox after Club Brugge humiliation
Martin’s initial days at Ibrox have shown no signs of progress, and it doesn’t look like the 39-year-old head coach is learning from his mistakes.
From insisting on playing Max Aarons to sticking to a style of play that has seen the defence ship in nine goals against Brugge, the Scottish manager has been stubborn in his ways.
While the former Southampton boss arguably needs time to implement his ideas at the Glaswegian outfit, his approach doesn’t seem to be working in G51.
Club Brugge | Statistics | Rangers |
72% | Possession | 28% |
4.27 | xG | 0.12 |

Rangers fans have already turned against Martin, with the atmosphere in Ibrox turning toxic just 10 games into the season.
The supporters have been vindicated, as they never wanted the Scottish manager to be appointed in the first place, but still initially backed him.
With the dreadful football on show at the Light Blues, fans have rightfully had enough of the ex-Saints boss, and his departure from Ibrox feels inevitable.
