Kris Boyd shares instant Russell Martin sack claim after ‘absolute disgrace’ v Club Brugge

Rangers were humiliated on Wednesday as they were defeated 6-0 against Club Brugge in the Champions League playoffs.

Russell Martin’s side were unable to come back after their 3-1 defeat at Ibrox last week as they were demolished in Belgium.

Max Aarons was sent off for Rangers early on, with the floodgates then opening at Jan Breydel Stadium to condemned the Gers to a 9-1 defeat on aggregate.

Martin is obviously under heavy pressure at Rangers due to the result, with Kris Boyd now weighing in on his future.

Kris Boyd: Rangers showing no improvement under Russell Martin

Many have called for Martin to be sacked at Rangers despite only being appointed in the summer.

The Gers are already off to their worst start in the Scottish Premiership in over three decades, and have only gotten worse as the campaign has gone on.

Multiple of the Scotsman’s signings have been awful, with Nasser Djiga continuing to underperform at Rangers.

Now, speaking at full-time on Sky Sports News on 27 August, Boyd did not mince his words when talking about the performance or Martin’s future

He said: “You can say that you are going to give managers time, and with new owners coming in, that is what they are going to be looking to do.

“That is only the case if you can see signs of improvement, and that is definitely not the case.

“Three league draws and got through the two tricky ties in the opening stages of the Champions League qualifiers, but they have been absolutely trounced over two legs.”

He later added: “They are not even the Champions of Belgium; they have totally destroyed Rangers over two legs.

“You thought it was a bad start at Ibrox, and it was, but that first half tonight was worse.

“Combine that with Max Aarons being sent off after eight minutes, and it is an absolute disgrace of a performance from Rangers from start to finish.

Russell Martin needs to be sacked by Rangers before Old Firm derby

While managers do need time to make things work, Martin only looks to be making Rangers worse.

The Gers cannot defend or attack and have now been humiliated on more than one occasion.

With the Old Firm derby coming up on the weekend, it could get messy, with Celtic likely to demolish Rangers if Martin is still in the dugout.

The 49ers must show their ruthlessness and sack Martin before the season is totally lost and they suffered another costly defeat.
