Ben Foster will annoy Rangers fans after what he said about Hamza Igamane
Hamza Igamane has been at the centre of attention since refusing to come on for Rangers.
Igamane claimed he was injured against St Mirren, so he was not substituted onto the pitch in the second half, with Russell Martin pushing for the win in the 1-1 draw.
The incident has caused plenty of backlash for Igamane, who looks set to sign for French side Lille for over £10million only days later.
Martin’s time at Ibrox has been turbulent, and the incident has only increased calls for him to lose his job.

Ben Foster hails Russell Martin for his reaction to Hamza Igamane
Igamane’s future always looked in doubt this summer, with injury issues masking how unsettled he was in Glasgow.
At one point, Rangers faced the threat of losing both Cyriel Dessers and Igamane this summer, but it now seems like the Moroccan will be the only departure up front.
His refusal to play has caused plenty of upset amongst supporters, with fans pointing out that he wanted to jump ship after one good season at Ibrox.
Speaking on his podcast, Fozcast, former West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster expressed his support for Martin following the incident.
“Did you see the Rangers debacle? Rangers have got off to the worst start in however many years, Russell Martin’s having a tough time of it, and they drew the game at the weekend,” he said.
- Igamane broke into the team last season under Philippe Clement
- Barry Ferguson didn’t seem to trust the young striker during his interim stint at Ibrox
- The centre-forward scored 12 league goals in the previous campaign
“They’ve tried to bring a player on as a sub and he’s gone, ‘no, I ain’t coming on’. He’s on the bench, so he’s good to go right, so he said I ain’t coming on, I’m injured.
“The problem is you can’t win because as soon as something like that happens, it undermines the manager, it undermines everything.
“So the manager comes out and Russell, I think he’s been brilliant the way he’s come out and said he’s bang out of order, but then I’m looking at the comments and everyone’s going it’s a shambles, he’s throwing his player under the bus, but I’m thinking you can’t let a player get away with that”
Rangers to sign a new striker after Hamza Igamane’s exit
Rangers are already wasting no time in the market as they look to replace Igamane before his exit is even confirmed and announced.
Bojan Miovski is set to sign for Rangers, with a fee now agreed with Girona for the ex-Aberdeen man, who has already set Scotland alight.
Following Mikey Moore’s loan move from Tottenham, supporters had wondered how much gametime the 18-year-old would get at Ibrox, but Igamane’s exit opens doors for youngsters like him.
Given the struggles around his main strikers this season already, Martin will be delighted to get Miovski in, with Igamane doing nothing to help his cause.
Miovski will take time to settle in, but he will be desperate to make an instant impact against Celtic in the first Old Firm of the season if signed on time.
