49ers trying to get Russell Martin sacked at Rangers after Illan Meslier shocker
Russell Martin doesn’t need 49ers Enterprises dumping Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier at Rangers.
Club Brugge beat Rangers 6-0 at Jan Breydel Stadium on Wednesday in the second leg of their Champions League playoff tie to inflict more misery on Martin.
Martin has the backing of Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers despite the poor set of results at the Light Blues this season, with the 39-year-old head coach winning just three of his first 10 matches in charge.
The Scottish manager will certainly be hoping for additional reinforcements at the Glaswegian outfit by 1 September, but it looks like Paraag Marathe wants him to suffer.

Rangers and Leeds United in talks for Illan Meslier transfer
Meslier is attracting interest from the Gers this summer after falling down the pecking order at Leeds, according to Santi Aouna.
The Foot Mercato journalist revealed on X on 28 August that the Light Blues are in negotiations with the Premier League outfit to bring the 25-year-old to Ibrox.
It’s been claimed that the Light Blues are keen on the French goalkeeper, but Valencia and Lorient are also in the race to sign him.

Supporters in G51 are already frustrated with the lack of progress since the US consortium’s takeover, with calls for the new manager’s sacking already ringing out from the terraces.
With Rangers exasperated due to Martin’s appointment at Ibrox, Meslier’s arrival will only make matters worse after his performances in West Yorkshire last season.
Karl Darlow replaced the Frenchman as the number one by Daniel Farke towards the end of the previous campaign after he consistently made some significant errors in between the sticks, which doesn’t bode well for the Bears if they do sign him.

Russell Martin doesn’t need Jack Butland replacement at Ibrox
Jack Butland pulled off some impressive saves against Brugge in the 6-0 defeat, and the Englishman was arguably the only player who turned up for the Gers at the Jan Breydel Stadium.
Rangers have Liam Kelly at their disposal as well, with the Scotland international proving his worth as a backup last season.
The Glaswegian outfit undoubtedly have other priorities in the final days of the transfer window and shouldn’t waste their funds on Meslier.
It feels like the 49ers want Martin to get sacked, as the French goalkeeper’s arrival evidently wouldn’t improve the squad at Ibrox one bit.
