Bojan Miovski wants long-term future sorted as Rangers transfer talks get green light

Rangers are keen to complete a move for Girona striker Bojan Miovski before the transfer window closes on Monday.

Girona have told Miovski that he has no future at the La Liga club, with Celtic among the other sides interested in a move.

Russell Martin is keen to add further depth to his front line before the 1 September deadline, after enduring a tough start to his tenure in Glasgow.

Rangers drew 1-1 with St. Mirren on Sunday in what was their third successive draw to kick off to the Scottish Premiership.

Martin’s search for a striker has also been intensified after Lille agreed a £10.5million fee for Rangers forward Hamza Igamane.

Girona give Bojan Miovski permission to speak to Rangers

Panathinaikos have joined the race for Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers, and the Nigeria international could also leave Ibrox in the coming days.

Should the 30-year-old leave, only Danilo would remain as an option up front for the Gers, with the Brazilian failing to impress so far this season.

The 26-year-old has played the bulk of minutes, but has scored just one goal in nine appearances.

Miovski has emerged among Rangers’ top choices to add competition to the attack, with the North Macedonia international keen to leave Girona – just one year after his £6.8m move from Aberdeen.

Rangers results 2025/26 – Scottish Premiership
Motherwell 1-1 Rangers
Rangers 1-1 Dundee
St. Mirren 1-1 Rangers

The 26-year-old made just 17 La Liga appearances, scoring just two goals across the season as he struggled for regular minutes.

Miovski had enjoyed a prolific 2023/24 season in Scotland, scoring 26 goals in all competitions for Aberdeen, and Rangers will hope the striker can produce similar results if he returns.

Sky Sports reported on 27 August that Girona have given the forward permission to speak to Rangers, with talks over personal terms now underway.

Bojan Miovski would work perfectly for Rangers frontline

Miovski is not your typical number nine – the striker often prefers to drop into midfield and on the wings to pick up the ball.

This could make him the perfect option for Rangers, with Oliver Antman and Djeidi Gassama allowed more freedom in and around the box.

The 26-year-old’s ability to drag defenders away from the penalty box should create space in behind for the pacey wingers at Martin’s disposal, with the trio ultimately forming a fluid front three.
